100-year-old wooden beauty, named Donna Wood.

This 100-year-old wooden beauty, named Donna Wood, is no ordinary sailboat. She is the latest addition to the North Sailing fleet; a two mast oak ship, who sails in the High Arctic offering travellers a unique experience; not just with their eyes and ears but also with their stomach.

On board, you'll find educated chef Arnþór Þorsteinsson, who lures the passengers out of their cabins each and every morning with the smell of freshly baked sourdough bread and hot beverages. According to Arnþór, everything feels better once you have experienced a great meal. "All your senses are invigorated," he says and alleges that the things you encounter during the day just feel different, if your stomach is satisfied.

Donna Wood was originally built in 1918 as a lighthouse ship in Denmark. In 1990 however, she underwent great restoration and now she offers adventurers sailing expeditions in Iceland and Greenland. We joined her for a magnificent experience, sailing in one of the largest fjord systems in the world, Scoresby Sund in East Greenland, and can't wait to tell you more about it. Arnþór's unique cooking and his goal to create experiences in remote parts of the world where emphasis is placed on local culture made the entire journey incomparable.
